Are We Prepared to Recycle Ourselves and Live in the Oneness of God?

Let's consider recycling ourselves as well as our world.

I have a friend who is the Warden of our local church, where many worthwhile projects are always on the go, from packing shoe boxes at Christmas (for communities abroad) to selling items that have been sustainably produced here at home. They are also keen on recycling and their latest project is to collect those pesky foil tablet strips that we struggle with when we try to access our medications. Gathering together my latest bundle of burst bubbles of silver packaging I found myself thinking how relevant this small but useful task seemed to relate to the current circumstances many of us are experiencing at the moment. I am not only talking about recycling packaging here but something much closer to home - and that is recycling ourselves!

Through the mis-use of our consciousness, we have all burst our own bubbles and can’t blame anyone else for it. Nobody does anything to us - we only do it to ourselves by the thoughts we have and the beliefs we encompass. This applies to our own individual lives as well as the global scene which we all create with our collective input. However, many things are now rising to the surface to be healed.

Many of our businesses and institutions are no longer as stable as they once were and some established companies have even disappeared altogether.

Much of the scientific and technological knowledge that we have embraced is changing our lives dramatically. From Zooms for work at home and consultations with medics to the double edged sword of artificial intelligence.

We are being more than gently persuaded to change the way we deal with our money and investments - the coin of the realm rapidly being undermined in favour of electronic transfer.

Our natural resources are gradually diminishing and the pollution of our planet is growing.

Everyone seems to be in conflict and our political representatives seem incapable of sharing or collaborating with others outside of their respective parties.

We are importing a very high percentage of our material needs - from ‘high tech’ equipment right down to the extremely vital tiny plastic part for our car, phone or computer - which has meant we are highly dependant upon people and countries that are a very long way away from where we are (both in terms of the geography and cultural and political landscape.)

As we witness the skirmishes, uprisings and wars that are erupting the idea of oneness with all humankind still seems to be a very long way away. We know that things sometimes need to get worse before they can get better and the clearing out of old ideas and dysfunctional processes is the prelude to further evolution. Maybe we should accept this (but not as a forgone conclusion as an intense upheaval and extermination of everyone and everything on the planet) but more of a gradual process of change.

This process of change has long been predicted and was once seen as an expected apocalyptic experience. Indeed many thought that the Mayan prophecy of the world ending in 2012 actually meant the world would disappear. However, the real message was that “the world as we know it” would end - meaning that our vibrational aspect would change.

If we look back over the last few decades we see the change in our approach to many things viz. our body and how we are now learning to nurture and appreciate it more with better nutrition and exercise. Our mental health and well-being is coming to the fore with greater understanding and treatments now being offered.

We have recently seen that the responsible use of social media to bring people together to voice concerns within communities has resulted in the establishment of more self-help groups, community projects and liaison with others in bringing about local social and political change.

Sathya Sai Baba (1926 - 2011) once related the parable of a single person in a village who wanted to change themselves for the better and by doing this they inspired others to do the same. As the village changed, the town started to change as well and as the townspeople followed the example that had now been set, the people in the surrounding area improved their selves too. As the area changed, its good influence spread throughout the country and as a result, the country then changed and was able to have a good influence on the world.

This story identifies the process we are now all moving through as we seek to transform ourselves.

When conditions get to a peak, we are presented with a ‘get out’ clause, an opportunity to re-evaluate and a chance to change - one recent occasion being our enforced ‘time out’ during Covid. This gave us all an opportunity to re-think our individual purpose and our lives.

Many relationships broke down, career paths were re-evaluated, some souls chose to leave the planet; while others made life changing decisions that saw them restructure their lives to allow them to live a more sustainable and meaningful life.

There is another analogy which I often use and would like to share with you, which is all about going into a dark room with a search light. By shining a light we are able to see what needs to be cleared away and cleansed before we can start putting new things into the space. Our world is very much like this room at the moment, the torch has been shone into it and as a result is showing up what is worn out, useless and no longer serving us. As we become illumined we gain further insight about the role we can play in the cleansing and restoration of ourself and our planet we call ‘home’.

This is not a one-off linear process, the cleaning often needs to be repeated, especially if we discover it has not been done properly or fully in the first place.

Likewise, the light will sometimes fail as the battery in the torch dims or the candle flame goes out - so we may need to replace the battery or light another candle to allow us to see further into those hidden corners. This is what is happening to our world at the moment, which is why it seems that there is no end to our troubles; but this is the very time when we should flex our new muscles which we are only just discovering as part of our human evolution. Those muscles are our spiritual ones.

The old saying, originally penned by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche “That which does not kill us makes us stronger” is brought to mind in the context of the indispensable eternal nature of the human spirit (rather than the dispensable body of the human).

Many are being tested at the moment, but along with that test comes the discovery that we are creative beings (in as much as we are an aspect of the Divine) and as such are able to manifest by realising and expressing that Divine energy. The I Am Presence within us is the God force and once we access and merge with it, it will become the greatest tool within our lives, enabling us to harness the gift of manifestation and as a result we will become more of a creator of our own lives rather than being tossed around like a leaf floating down the river of life - which we have been doing for aeons of time. This is the gift we are being given now as we move into the greater aspect of ourselves; but first we must realise who we truly are!

By discovering our true nature we can then begin to manifest our energy through our conscious application and by this I mean understanding that we ensure we are consciously expressing ourselves through our Higher Self (Divine Nature) rather than through our Ego Self (Lower Nature).

So how do we go about discovering this and how do we access those mainly unseen and as yet unused, attributes?

Going to that quiet space within ourself is of primary importance, because it is there that we will discover our true nature. Our ego self will try to keep us fixated upon the outer world (with all its wants and needs). Releasing ourself from this (maybe only momentarily at first) will allow us to open up to that WORLD WITHIN where we can find our solutions. This takes patience, which is an attribute we have allowed to become eroded in recent times and must now be embraced again.

Once our room is cleared and cleaned our next task is to choose the furniture and this can become a frustrating exercise, as each person has a view on what type of fixture and fitting they see as being needed in the room. We know from experience, this needs discussion and compromise to ensure that everyone’s needs are catered for (rather than allowing predilection for specific groups or individuals to take precedent.)

Of course we all know that I am not really referring to a simple room that needs refurbishing but a much bigger task that affects the global scene. However, the idea is the same and there is truth in the tiny atom (within our self) as well as in the whole world (our planet) and we are all made of the same stuff. We are all facing our personal and global armageddon now and if we do not succeed this time we will have to go back to start again and commence the dice shaking, hoping we will serve up a six and at least start off as a winner!

However, for most of us this is not a game is it? It’s a life - our life and our world! We should never sit back and think it’s nothing to do with us. We should never think that we are not clever enough, good enough or strong enough to change the world and we should never just sit back and leave it to those that think they can.

Ask yourself if you are really willing to allow someone else to throw the dice on your behalf?

This is a message that many philosophers and teachers have been shouting from the mountain tops, drawing pictures of in the hidden caves and written in the stories of our history for time immemorial. We cannot ignore the message any longer.

The most wonderful thing about this time in our lives is that we are all being given the dice to throw for ourselves, for our own individual life and for our planet. We are being given this opportunity to participate in our future growth as spiritual beings having a physical experience.

We are being given a chance to take up that torch and put new batteries in it or light another candle and shine it into our room (our mind) and see what stories we hold about ourselves and our abilities. Let us shine the torch on our past hurts and the challenges we are facing - because this will give us the insight to who we truly are, what we need to heal about ourselves and what we need to build for the future.

Do not worry about the outside world but instead seek to look within and discover your true self, awaken to your true nature and then BE and LIVE as one with Source/The Divine.

This is the next evolutionary step for humankind to take. We all have to ask ourselves this very important question now - are we prepared to take this opportunity which is being presented to us and RECYCLE OURSELVES?
