Are You a Traitor or a Faithful?
Which role are you playing in your life?
Amongst my birthday gifts this year was “The Traitors” book, which of course is based on a BBC TV programme. From page one questions are posed - often with multiple choice answers which, when chosen, define your unique journey through the unfolding pages.
At first it was a little unsettling as I am so used to starting a book at the beginning and then following the story consistently through to the end (unless of course it is a reference book). But those of you who have seen the popular TV programme “Traitors” will know that this is not how it works!
This is no ordinary read because riddles have to be unscrambled and decisions have to be made, along with one eye on the clock. Just like the TV game you jump around it based on your answers rather than read it through from beginning to end and this got me thinking that life is very much like that.
Like the contestants in the game, we never really know what’s around the next corner. Very often that will depend upon a choice we have made, a decision we have had to accept that has been made by someone else or an opportunity we have embraced or declined.
How good would it be if we were given a Table of Contents or a brief oversight of the chapters in our own lives. Not so for the Traitors - and not so for us either in the game of life!
Our world is based on cause and effect and for centuries we have accepted the idea that “what goes round, comes round” but we are now realising that we have a choice. This choice can affect how we live and allow us to be more in charge of our life. So what is that other option?
First of all we need to understand who we really are. For centuries we have been living with the idea that life happens to us, rather than embracing the idea that life is created by us because we are initiators.
Remember Jesus telling us that we are made in God’s image? Jesus knew and that was why he was able to perform so many miracles, because he understood the principle of being able to manifest and heal others.
He went on to say that we could do the things that he could do as well. By this he meant that once we understood that as a ‘child’ of God we are of the same substance then we are able to create as God creates. We then have the ability to use this gift to create our own lives. We have been doing this ever since we have been in incarnation but we have not realised the power that we have - instead we have allowed the ego to take over our thinking and our awareness.
Unless we choose to think and create from a higher level of being we can fall into the depths of our lower consciousness - which is what we have been doing for many thousands of years. However, the time has now come when we are again being given the opportunity to realise that we are aspects of God and as such we have God consciousness.
God is pure consciousness and has made us in his likeness. Once we realise this we can then take back control of ourself. In other words we can choose to use our higher consciousness to create our lives. This is what Jesus (and all the great ones throughout history) did.
This means taking back control of ourself and realising who we really are - an aspect of God consciousness with the ability to create our individual life by utilising our creative ability as an aspect of Divine awareness.
Much like the competitors in the Traitors game, we react to one another, create alliances and as the name suggests, we go all out for ourselves when the chips are down to gain the prize at the end.
For aeons of time humankind have lived their lives in this way - every man for himself; but things are changing and we are all gaining greater insight as to what is really at stake here.
We need to acknowledge the real prize and that is us realising that we have come from Divine creative loving consciousness and because we are ‘made in God’s image’ we have that same ability as well.
Once we do this we will no longer need to be in the race, or snatch all the points for the prizes, instead we will discover that we have all those good things already and only need to create them from our God conscious self rather than snatch them from others.
If we fail to recognise who we really are, we are being a Traitor to ourselves and this means we won’t win our game!
We have been given many chances over the centuries in which to play the life part we wish to embrace.
The game goes on and will continue to play itself out until every one of us realises who we really are and makes the choice to stop being a traitor to ourself and instead plays the game as a real faithful - it is only then that we will gain the prize!
