"We must become so alone, so utterly alone, that we withdraw into our innermost Self. It is a way of bitter suffering. But then our solitude is overcome, we are no longer alone, for we find that our innermost Self is the Spirit, that it is God, the indivisible.

And suddenly, we find ourselves in the midst of the world, yet undisturbed by its multiplicity, for in our innermost Soul, we know ourselves to be one with all Being."

~ Hermann Hesse

When I saw this quote on social media recently it resonated with me greatly. There is always a gift within the challenge that we are presented with and for me it was the realisation that I cannot rely upon the world outside to give me peace, but I know I can access it in my WORLD WITHIN.

Sometimes we only discover the reason why we have had to experience pain in our life, is when we are nearing the end of the test. That’s probably not a bad thing anyway, because knowing at the onset that you are embarking upon a ‘lengthy and difficult task’ is not easy - so maybe we are being protected from the full knowledge of it.

Sometimes it is better to move through the problem with a small torchlight rather than walk into the room and switch the overhead light on and immediately see your challenge in all its ugliness and messiness.

I think that is very much how we should be viewing our world at the moment and by this I mean just observe, rather than jump to conclusions and create more negative energy. We can then retain a level playing field within our minds and emotions and keep neutral about things. In this world of duality we have been programmed to jump in and take a side in any matter and this has led us to the great battle of our world, where men and women are constantly protecting their corner from invasion and at times being prompted to go forward and seize what they think is theirs.

It has not done us any good in our past creations and it will not do us any good in our future ones. The only thing that conflict has achieved has been confusion, and confusion in such a big way, that humans cannot even begin to remember who they really are.

Many of us are being tested now, not only in our individual lives but in the greater scheme of things, as we witness organisations, institutions and ways of being disintegrating around us. The world as we know it is changing and for this to occur, some things need to be broken down. We should not fear this because if we do we will only be adding to the conflict - in view of the fact that if we fear something, we want to defend ourselves against it or destroy it, lest it destroys us.

We have allowed ourselves to be bound by our thoughts that chain us and as a result have given up and allowed ourselves to become prisoners governed by our thinking minds rather than our feeling hearts.

However, we are now seeing a new world - one that has always been there for us, but a world that we have failed to see, because we have been living in the darkness of our thinking dualistic minds. Awareness is slowly dawning upon us and as we now start to get used to the light and leave the restrictions of our selfish ego mindset behind, we can embrace the grace that is there in our new ways of thinking and being.

Sometimes we need time out to discover things about ourselves and solitude to dwell upon matters that elude us when we are taken up with the busyness and demands of our world. Source has a way of getting us to stop when the time is right for us, when we are given the opportunity to wake up from the dream of life and grasp the reality of who we really are. Acute sickness, near death experiences, loss of a loved one or drastic change that is forced upon us, are all ways that a person can be given the opportunity to awaken and discover who they really are. If we remember the last time the world stood still - during Covid - many re-assessed their priorities, changed their ways of life and forged new pathways. The need to do this has not gone away. Every day there is another chance for us to re-think our ideas, our approaches, our responses and our ways of living.

There often comes a time when things that are no longer working for us or serving our greatest good need to be taken down or destroyed before the new can be built and although the destruction of the familiar can be a threat to us we need to consider that it is just part of a giant plan wherein we will be able to live more constructive, creative and fulfilling lives - such is the way of the new human where everyone will be valued for who they are and how they behave towards each other, rather than be placed upon a pedestal as a result of achieving riches and power.

Our whole life experience runs on the principle of cause and effect. Everything happens for a reason - and although it may not be clear to us at the moment, we will eventually look back and realise that an event which we initially regarded as being a disaster actually turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to us. This has certainly been my experience in life. We also need to be aware that if we want change to happen we must make the space for it to come about. Whether it be a learning experience which will be added to our spiritual skill set or an occurrence or activity that will bring us some form of healing, there is always a blessing in the challenge and at this moment in our individual and collective consciousness, we must become mindful for the gathering of it.

So that is why we need to go to our WORLD WITHIN because at the moment we only have a WORLD WITHOUT - a world without love, peace and abundance for everyone.

As Hermann Hesse so succinctly put it - once we recognise that we are part of the Divine/Source/God (whatever resonates with you) we will take up our real power and direction in life as we merge into the Oneness of life and finally begin to experience love, peace and abundance for all.
