The Part The Guru Plays
Teaching us HOW rather than WHAT
During my early years of exploring the idea of ‘awakening’ I was always puzzled as to why those spiritual teachers and gurus only seemed to talk in cryptic and subtle messages. They did not offer any words but instead just sat quietly in silence (which I later discovered really was their ‘presence’). When pushed they may have uttered a seemingly glib word, which often left me with more questions than answers. It is only now, after many years of considered application, that I can begin to glimpse a small part of what they were holding within themselves - reluctant to proselytise but instead just waiting for me to realise the truth of who I really was.
It is an individual journey that we are all on - a journey that can take many lifetimes and even when we begin to think ‘we know it now’ that turns out to be just a step along the way. As a soul we will undertake many incarnations. As a conscious being at source we are able to explore unlimited possibilities. I am choosing to express part of myself in this way as a researcher and writer, in order that I may learn more about myself and life and pass on information that may be helpful to others too.
As I access that higher consciousness within, I allow myself to channel the truth to the extent that my own expression of consciousness allows me - according to the level of vibration which I am on.
The same is true for you as a reader, because your higher aspect of self has chosen to explore such subjects with which you may agree or disagree. Whatever choice you make, it is a step along the way of life which has only one intent and that is to keep us moving and growing and learning and expressing and living our best life!
We can never begin to fully understand the process of ‘awakening’ with our mind - we can only realise it when our higher self comes into play. Very often our brain is the last part of us that can accept the realisation of who we really are. It is the heart that knows first. It is the realisation of oneness and connection - not on a superficial level, but on the level of pure God consciousness - because irrespective of how we are expressing ourselves in our current lifetime, we are all parts of the Divine at our source.
In later years, this particular time in our history may be seen as being one of the most challenging times in the evolution of our world. However, we must consider that those most difficult of times often present us with the most gains.
We have all proved to ourself that constantly being in the mind does little for our inner peace - as the world and all its troubles penetrates our thoughts and feelings.
The gurus know this and choose to stay away from the ‘busyness’ of the world and instead focus on connection with higher consciousness. This is why some are able to sit for hours, days and even weeks without sustenance of any kind.
Are they acting as an example to us by showing us that we don’t need so many luxuries to survive; and that it is possible to move forward with a much lighter pack upon our back?
The challenge now for all of us is to go back into our centre and embrace the love and peace which is there in our heart space. Before we can do this we need to come out of our mind and even if we only succeed in doing this for a couple of seconds, that is a start.
The guru in India who sits in contemplation has chosen that life to live as a pathway towards their goal of merging with the Divine aspect of God. Despite the trials and tribulations of the world around them they have harnessed their power and gone to their WORLD WITHIN to find their answers. We must do the same.
We do not need to follow the path of the Indian aspirant but we do need to follow the path that our higher aspect of self presents to us as individuals; because we too can become our own Guru, by going into our WORLD WITHIN, where we can connect with our higher consciousness and find our direction.
